Curriculum Development
As an undergraduate student, I have worked to prepare lesson plans covering as long as a year, a unit, or based on one particular book. These lesson plans are based on standards from a particular district but can be adapted to the school, students, and standards where they will be implemented.
The year-long outline describes six units created to meet the standards and expectations of the school district. Each unit includes understanding goals and the final performance that students will work towards through projects and on-going assessments during the unit.
The unit teaches students satire through movies, television shows, literature, short story, songs, and news. Through these mediums, students will come to understand how to spot satire or utilize it as a tool in their own writing.
The various lessons cover a topic that could be used to discuss a particular young adult book. The lesson can be adapted to meet district standards or the needs of the class.
